Blizzard is planning four seasons a year, each with major new features, questlines, enemies, legendary items, and more[1]. When a new season begins, all characters are moved to the Eternal Realm where they can contribute to seasonal progress[2]. The developers are trying to achieve a relative balance between classes, builds, and powers in the new game. They will also be adding new legendary and unique items, paragon boards, glyphs, and other features "that will continually refresh the meta and create new build opportunities". Blizzard has promised that players won't be able to pay for power in Diablo IV. All sources of character power must come from playing the game[1][3]. The best-looking cosmetics aren’t exclusive to the Shop. Diablo IV will ship with hundreds of transmogs unlockable from drops in-game, including dozens of armor sets of the highest visual quality. There are incredible pieces—Unique and Legendary quality diablo 4 items —for players to find without ever going to the shop[2]. Cosmetics will come from two sources: an in-game shop that sells cosmetic armor pieces for premium currency and a paid battle pass. Seasons—the optional periodic character resets we saw in Diablo III—will remain free. Diablo IV is set to release on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4 in 2023 with crossplay and cross-progression across all platforms. The game is built strictly for PC/console audiences and will be a full-price game with tons of content after launch.
